Digital textile printing is an evolving technology that has progressed rapidly over the last 10-15 years. It gives the clients the flexibility to print on demand and deliver closer to market trends.
The Textile Hub facility incorporates the latest digital textile equipment on site.

Acid Dyes are used to dye protein fibres such as silk, wool, angora, alpaca, mohair, feathers, etc., and even man-made Nylon for swimwear and active wear.  Our machine is set up for stretch Nylons, though we can print on some Silks and woven wool. Acid Dyed Nylons hold shape very well, with good elastic memory, colour fastness and handle.

Reactive Dye printing we use non-toxic water based dyes. As with Acid Dye, the fabrics are pre-coated before printing. and steamed after printing, creating a reaction that dyes the fibres right through.  Reactive dyes have a very good colour fastness are ideal for cotton, linen, rayon, nylon and other cellulosic materials. It can also be used to print on some silks.

Dye Sublimation

Sublimation printing is a technique that uses heat sensitive inks. These inks turn into gas under the influence of heat and combine with a 100% polyester medium. Since the ink becomes part of the structure of the material, the prints on the fabric are wash and wear ready.
There are two processes available: Transfer Dye Sublimation and Direct Dye Sublimation. For the apparel industry, we use transfer Dye Sublimation, as it doesn't require the base Polyester fabrics to be pre-coated. All it needs is the heat (sublimation) process to fixate the dye and make it ready for the cutters and makers.

The process only works on Polyester base cloths, though some mixed textiles like an 80:20 Poly-cotton, may work, depending on the construction of the weave, and which yarn is on the surface. It's always best to have a chat with one of us, to see what we can do to get your creativity onto your chosen fabrics.
